This is also the first appearance of the recurring spell Magic Burst, which Ashlynn uses. It's an amazingly impractical spell that consumes ALL of her MP to convert it to non-elemental damage, doing more the more MP you spend.
It's also one of the few practical ways to kill Mortamor so... Yay

Mortamor also has to be the biggest jerk of a final boss in the whole series. Imagine if you will a boss with three targets, all of which spam very powerful spells, and each one can revive the other to full health after death. So you either kill them all within a turn or two or the fight never ends.

As in the previous two games you collect the legendary gear and enter Zenithia, finding out your enemy is the demon known as Mortamor, who plans to fuse the two worlds and reign over them. It's also revealed to be a prequel to 4 and 5 as the Zenithian Dragon isn't yet born in this game.

about Mortamor, he really admires Ryz, not just as a specimen, but for his strength & determination! Ryz doesn't wanna take him on missions due to his frailness (he comes along anyways). Mort's a rallying sport. He doesn't remember much of his past either & wants to uncover it with his partner.

gasp and they were case partners. Mort's much older, but he's gentler and kind. A total opposite to Ryz' serious and stoic personality. My blorbos, if you will.

Jeez… The final boss of Dragon Quest 6 is some S Tier bullshit! I had to hunt Metal King Slimes (Heck Yeah!) for hours just to make it bearable, and even then I nearly had my full party wiped a couple times. Oof!

well it only took almost 80 hours but i finally beat dragon quest vi. that’s every main line game except dqx (at some point i’m going to have to figure that one out but hhhhh)
it’s tempting to try for beating all the side games as well but there are So Many and a good chunk aren’t translated 🫠

One day I'm going to comm something like this involving several of the Pandora cast. I don't know who all would be in the line-up, but it'd certainly be everyone who feels like a final boss to some RPG that's never going to happen.

Hell yeah, beat Dragon Quest 6. It did a lot of cool and innovative things story wise. The encounter rate was a little high and some of the dungeon design wasn’t my favorite, but it was still a fun and sweaters with warm cider level cozy time. Now I get to use my 3DS again and continue with 7. 🧙🏻♂️
