DQ6 though doesn't have much going on in the world after beating Murdaw. You're still fighting some monsters & helping people & some of their stories are nice, but without a clear goal in mind I'm not really as engaged with it. Maybe it'll all come together later though.

DQ6 has been fun and there's some intrigue there but after Murdaw things just kind of feel aimless. Like, most DQ games have points where they set you off to explore & discover the world freely but there was always a destination in mind & a clear path building up to it.

DQ6 isn't my favorite of the series but it's still DQ. I think the game falls off once Murdaw is defeated but it's still enjoyable
Do find the vocation system to be a bit counterintuitive but the way you unlock the advanced vocations is satisfying. Have to wonder which version of DQ7 you will play

"Barbara leaves you before Murdaw for lore reasons" is one of the big casualties of the development of DQ6 conflicting with Chrono Trigger and seems like an easy ball to catch for a remake

I find both Murdaw and Mortamor to be quite memorable through sheer difficult (Murdaw, in particular, is kind of overtuned). 6 is also the introduction of Nokturnus. The cast of player characters is weaker than 5 but more interesting than 4 overall though I'd agree it's not 6's best quality.
