People keep discovering this piece just like they keep discovering this movie. How amazing it was to be a moviegoer in 1999.
I forgot that this movie (with its absolutely STACKED cast even though some folks like Matthew Rhys, Harry Lennix, or Laura Fraser were basically unknowns at the time) came out in the staggeringly great movie year of 1999 and even so stands out.

Because that obscure independent film that doesn’t have a videogame franchise attached to it or the guarantee of making a bajillion dollars even if it’s awful might need some extra context or information for the general moviegoer.
I'm hard-pressed to explain why movie critics are necessary at all.

we should bring back the thing 30s movies did where scenes kind of just end and fade to black or crossfade into the next one. no more hard cuts, they are too much of a shock to the delicate temperament of the modern moviegoer

I think if you showed a younger moviegoer anything filmed in Glorious Techincolor it would permanently scorch their retinas.
They might also be amazed at how clearly they could hear everyone's dialog.
