Why Trump is eviscerating the military

Joe Scarborough was off from Morning Joe on Thursday — but still managed to deliver a hot take that's sure to get people talking in Washington.

via Home - CBSNews.com — President Trump is taking issue with recent reports of significant U.S. munitions shortages due to the war with Iran.

U.S. President Donald Trump responded aggressively to a Washington Post report detailing internal conflicts with Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth over concerns about munitions shortages during the Iran war. The article describes how Trump, through his Truth Social platform, accused anonymous sources of leaking 'treasonous statements' and vowed to pursue long-term jail sentences against them. The Post's reporting alleges that Trump disputed Hegseth's claims about critical missile shortages, despite no evidence being provided by the president. The report highlights that while the U.S. has production agreements for key munitions like Patriot missiles, manufacturing delays of up to two years mean immediate relief is not feasible. This scarcity impacts global conflicts, including Ukraine's struggle with air defense against Russian attacks. Trump's denial of shortages contradicts the Post's analysis, which emphasizes the strategic implications of delayed weapon deliveries. The incident underscores ongoing tensions within the administration and raises questions about transparency in military decision-making.
