I would also say that the parenting environment positively encourages this sort of attitude in parents, in quite a socially pernicious way. We are told to use school apps like MyChildAtSchool for everything including messages from school and paying for meals, but the app also tells you about details

I spent ages the other day trying to find the YourChildAtSchool app, only to later to discover I should have been looking for MyChildAtSchool.

I think this every time I have to use the app our school uses (MyChildAtSchool). Madness the inconsistency between NHS with high standards for procurement etc and Education which is a total free market.
