Wine consumption in 11 control states — where the state runs wine wholesale and retail — hasn't turned around. June 2026 was 0.1% above June 2025, while the rolling 12-month avg is down 4.2%

Recent U.S. wine consumption: The National Alcohol Beverage Control Association (NABCA) provides a good snapshot of recent data. Wine consumption in 11 control states is still declining, but at a slower pace. March 2026 was 1.8% below March 2025, while the rolling 12-month average is down 4.4%.

Depending on area, data may either be retail (consumer takeaway from state/agency stores) or warehouse (depletions to off-premise or all licensees)

Worst were Canadian Whiskey (value -17.7%) and Scotch (-17.4%)
