Pretty sure we've had that setting on .NETFramework as well. Initially one of the differences between core and NETFX was core was server GC by default but that changed over time.

People say #SoftwareBloat is not a thing and I present to you a 4.2GB difference in installation size depending on the existence of #.NETframework or not... That's ridiculous... 4.2GB... why?

Microsoft confirmed that the August 2026 .NET Framework cumulative update is causing printing and PDF/XPS export failures in some WPF applications, with errors affecting certain fonts such as Calibri.
