Interesting couple of days at the NHS Providers annual conference #NHSP24 - lots to unpack on the keynotes from Amanda and Wes but the bits that resonated most for me were about creating and sustaining cultures for improvement. We will need a bit of that in the coming years!

This feels very old New Labour and the danger for the Govt here is that this culture trickles down into dreadful toxic behaviours at local levels. Is it sowing the seeds of a new Mid Staffs type care scanda? Or is it necessary, overdue grip? #NHSP24

Today at #NHSP24 Wes Streeting will deliver some of his "tough love" on NHS managers.

Failing managers will be denied pay rises or even sacked if they are “persistently failing”. He's also reviving performance league tables:

Interesting speech from NHSE chief Amanda Pritchard at #NHSP24 Good to hear a lot of emphasis on leader behaviours, their curiosity and delivering safely for patients. Very often speeches are dominated by finance and delivery but focus on standards as experienced by the public is welcome.

Amanda Pritchard … 0.12% the real terms increase in funding to the provider sector last year. But trusts really made it stretch - evidenced by the IFS. #NHSP24
