I'm guessing this actually existed in Ceefax for a short while for the gag.

We didn't get a teletext TV until 1990 (with NICAM stereo too!) so wouldn't know.

On the other side (Oracle) I once found a similar page gag for Sean's Show, delighted when the episode aired months later.

Japan used to have a video recorder (2) that could detect most ads and pause during them. It worked by detecting when the nicam sound switched from stereo to dual language, most adverts were English/Japanese.

I just realised something. To get the Mega Drive and SNES to play stereo sound, you needed to buy special cables (component, scart), because the standard arial lead was just mono.

But... nicam stereo TV came over the standard arial, right? How come that worked?
