There are multiple levels of intelink, including NIPR/unclass, and not having any knowledge of the specific pages/chats in question I didn't want to jump to any conclusions.....but any ic.gov domain is a dead giveaway for JWICS, and would be atypical to be seen in this fashion on NIPR intelink

fwiw having unclass internet up is fine (we have NIPR in SCIFs/etc etc) if this was a secure area (don't think drapes meet ICD 705 physical security requirements lmao), but the poasting presidency on the other hand

So not the case for subs specifically afaik but there really are DoD civs aboard deployed USN vessels as well as the CIVMARs (also DoD employees) operating MSC's resupply vessels who are going to have spotty access to NIPR email at best
