there was a rare moment of global solidarity when we cared about our elders and children and vulnerable people and frontline workers. we squandered that moment :(

It still makes me sad to remember that brief moment of *hope* I had at the start of things. It felt like we were on the precipice of a massive global change for the better, like we really were going to make the whole world better for everyone. And then a bunch of politicians & CEOs took it all away.

Hey, #MedSKy... question since Google is giving me conflicting answers (and I will ask my doc next time I see her, but curious right now). Does one need a Shingrix booster if one gets it the first time at 50? I'm seeing that it apparently only lasts 7-10 years?

This makes me so sad. We're going to be teaching kids that imagination is for computers. Punch in your data points and let the machine spit something out. Don't write. Don't compose. Don't draw. Don't paint. Don't think. Don't create. Don't dream. Accept the post-human dystopia or be left behind.

No cheating, reskeet with the most recent photo of your pet.

That blanket was bought specifically to be a *people* blanket. That lasted less than a day before she stole it and we've never gotten it back.

Just dug up my instruction thread on how to set up Chrome to automatically do that -AI thing for you. It definitely helps (and gets rid of that stupid AI bit at the top of the page), but you probably still want to do the date thing if it's really important.

I have been working SO hard on this over the past few weeks and hit a major milestone today. I think we're very close to opening up for submissions. 😊

The showcase will run for 2 weeks around Canada Day, and if you're a Canadian author, I'd love to have you involved!

Since I've just spent the entire day creating something very super cool (if I do say so myself), am putting feelers out to my fellow Canadian fiction authors (indie, hybrid, tradpub - all welcome). Would anyone be interested in joining a BIG book promo for Canada Day? Here's what I'm thinking: +/

My fellow USAnians: If you suggest annexing Canada, you are literally on the side of Trump, so fuck you.

And if you "joke" about nuking Canada, you are A GODDAMNED MONSTER.

N.P. Thompson 🍁 @nptwrites.bsky.social · Jul 15

Immediate unfollow. And while I am furious with Carney and his anti-planet policies, any American pushing the "annex Canada" bullshit or "joking" about *nuking* us (wtf is wrong with u?), based on our leader should look in a gd mirror. Carney's reasoning for this is BECAUSE OF THE GUY *YOU* ELECTED.

Need a fun read? I have a series for fans of action-packed #fantasy adventures that don't skimp on character or world-building (you'll even love the side-characters!) It's also funny. And there are layers and sub-plots that really draw you in. 🧙‍♂️✨ #ReaderSky #Reading

A stormy blue and purple background with the covers of the four currently published books in my Arcanium series lined up in a row: River of Crows, Mirror of Wolves, Stone of Serpents, Chalice of Caladriai. Gold text at the top says: "The Arcanium Saga". Smaller white snippets of text are arrayed at angles all around the covers. Those snippets give an overview of what to expect in the series and they say:
- epic magic battles
- awesome origami magic
- told from multiple points of view
- magic manifests differently for everyone
- tyrant emperor with dark magic
- enchanted army of birds
- new friends become there-for-you-always friends
- siblings
- a villain and henchman you love to hate
- action! danger! mayhem! snark!
- people tell me they bought it for their kids then stayed up all night to read it themselves
- a mysterious crow with a white feather
- a different take on shapeshifters
- grumpy gardening sorcerer with an apothecary shop
- hobs and gnomes and dragons (oh my!)
- Chosen One (... maybe...?)

Projected 4%-6% increase in food prices in 2026. Because people aren't already struggling enough and food banks certainly aren't already feeding hundreds of thousands more than they used to because food is already stupidly expensive.

Food prices in Canada could increase by four to six per cent next year, largely led by pricier meat products, according to a forecast by researchers at Dalhousie University.
