#NREL
Told ya.😛

Bring back NREL. Bring back the OTA. Get Detroit back on building electric cars, even if we end up playing second fiddle to China.

Still, people being people, I expect what will be done will be more stupid than I can possibly imagine.
It's crunch time for renewable energy deployment.

Kind of depressing that NREL changed their name to NRL, since we're apparently not into doing renewable energy anymore.

Such short term thinking for the future of humanity.
I imagine they still do a lot of good work though.

Heat pumps shouldn’t be treated as a niche climate upgrade. They should be the default when fossil-fuel heating needs replacement.

NREL estimates avgs savings of 2.5-4.4 metric tons of CO₂e per home each year. The technology works. Affordability is the next problem.

Why Flexible Solar Panels Overheat When Mounted Flat: and What It Costs You
Why Flexible Solar Panels Overheat When Mounted Flat: and What It Costs You
Flexible solar panels flush-mounted to a roof hit 70C in summer: an 18% output penalty before degradation even starts. That heat accelerates yellowing, delamination, and micro-cracks. NREL data: they degrade ~60% faster than rigid panels. Full breakdown →

September 19, 2026 at 06:14AM Ilustrasi Baterai HP VIVA – Kasus ponsel terbakar atau bahkan mengalami ledakan memang jarang terjadi, tetapi bukan berarti mustahil.

New modeling from the National Lab of the Rockies (formerly NREL) suggests that geothermal energy networks have limited adoption potential in the US - mostly in dense, cold cities - while more conventional geothermal heating and cooling (boreholes in backyards, no networks) has much more potential.

That's nearly five Diablo Canyon NPPs. Zero additional land area.

NREL: There are ~7.2B ft² of roof space on superstores in the continental US. Fully building out that potential could produce 84.4 TWh/y of electricity and avoid more than 52Mt/y of planet-warming CO2 emissions.
Superstores can meet half their electricity needs with rooftop solar, says a new report
From Walmart to Ikea, a report finds that the rooftops of big-box stores offer enough solar potential to power the equivalent of 8 million American homes.

You can make anything sound bad if there's no context.

Yes we need to have EOL plans in place but come on...it's a tiny amount.

He's done this before. He withheld disaster funds for last year's fires and floods in Colorado. He shut down NCAR, and NREL, and moved Space Force to Georgia. All because he was mad Polis wouldn't pardon Tina Peters and stop using mail-in voting. He's the most vindictive person alive. And, a big baby.

I ran numbers for my HOA parking lot using the NREL PVWatts calculator. Got bids from suppliers for the solar canopies and compared their generation potential to NREL's. They agree. It's inefficient and not sustainable w/o deep subsidies. We should subsidize ebikes, bije parking , bike lanes
