When you put a whole country in the hands of high finance (Forrestal, Nitze & others) who, in their place, might have been helpful, you get heavily swayed by a narrow. sexy view that "knows better" than to pay down debt & balance budgets. It's kept secret till it's irreversible. Democracy? NSC68

And a deliberately paranoid mindset that actually weakens defense and destroys democracy in the process? The National Security State, NSC68, semi-war seen as a means of economic domination of the world... The United States can do so much better. Hard to pick apart.

The imperial conflicts during the European Wars of religion. My thinking is Kennan and NSC 68 show this dynamic really well. Kennan is very straight forward that ideology is just a cover for Russian Imperialism. NSC68 however seems to believe communism is the central motivation of the USSR

Were we for any length of time. We’ve been genocidal,racist from jump. Then we started ideolohical wars inside and outside the country… NSC68 became our new world order and we even had the South Korean government murder men women and children for a few years? I would never call us freedom leaders.
