#NSCAD
Technically it has campuses of 2 universities (Dal and NSCAD) but effectively 4 (SMU, AST). MSVU, Acadia, CBU, St. FX, and all but one NSCC campus are outside. NSCAD and AST have less students than a single Acadia dorm.

met a guy at the dog park, he told me how his daughter wants to get into art, but he didn't really know many options for her other than community college. WELL, I told him all about NSCAD & all the programs she could try. Today I got to meet her & found out she went to the open house & is excited 😆

I looked up student populations and AST has less than 70 students. I forgot Kings technically is its own university, but it’s also the size of a high school (so slightly larger than NSCAD, lol)

Yes I want a stable job because I enjoy animating (and would like to pay my bills), but ALSO I need to learn to make fish pottery (an ad for a pottery class at NSCAD, though I think all the fall classes are for watercolour)

I went to uni at NSCAD during the height of Halifax as the centre of the alternative music world, circa '93 ish. This was one of the bands dominant on the scene, who signed to SubPop and then disappeared: Hardship Post, from Newfoundland. Never to be replicated. Still a favourite.

If NSCAD had been doing this for the last 20 years, they would have a Scrooge McDuck-style money bin by now.

My understanding is they asked Adsum for help housing students, not space for them. But it was surprising and shows a lack of understanding for sure. NSCAD has no residences and I’m not sure they even have a housing coordinator.

I latter learned that when he was a sessional at NSCAD, he refused to give a friend of mine an extension after her roommate died and she had found the body. Definitely up there with the biggest bullies I’ve ever had to deal with. A total hack of an artist to boot.

Yesterday I had the opportunity to take my Advanced and IB Art classes on a field trip to NSCAD and it was probably the best day of my teaching career. Nothing like watching the minds of 23 students explode when they see all of the possibilities to do art after high school.
