Gus Walz is not nonverbal. He has nonverbal learning disorder. It’s a confusing name. Basically, folks with NVLD are talented with verbal skills, but have difficulty with nonverbal skills. Both my kids have it and they are readers, writers and talkers.

Gus Walz is not nonverbal. He has nonverbal learning disorder. It’s a confusing name. Basically, folks with NVLD are talented with verbal skills, but have difficulty with nonverbal skills. Both my kids have it and they are readers, writers and talkers.

Sometimes I wonder how useful this diagnostic hairsplitting is. He has ADHD and NVLD, and “people with NVLD are often confused as being on the autism spectrum.” I want to say “How is this kid with ADHD and NVLD different from what he would look like if he were autistic? What is he missing?”

Plenty of potential 2028 Democratic candidates have worked on autism: Josh Shapiro has tried to clear the waitlist for autism services. Tim Walz is a former teacher and his son has NVLD and ADHD.

This is so interesting! NVLD is like mirror-autism: Autistics often have auditory processing issues & rely on visual cues, & NVLD seems to be the opposite.

As someone with a spatial NVLD, my opinion is that Dark Souls does not need an easy mode but those baby games where you have to solve a puzzle that involves rotating a shape do. Clearly unreasonable to expect me to know turning a triangle upside down makes it fit in the upside down triangle hole.

Neuro-atypical person here. My mom didn't use tylenol during her pregnancy. Still dx'd with AUDHD/NVLD/Anxiety/Depression/CPTSD/PTSD.
