The NWP "They Live" cosplay political ads taped tightly down on the #NewWest Quay are just... sad.
I'd tear them down as vandalism, but it's making one of the strongest arguments against the NWP. It makes them look like conspiracy theory nutjobs.

It’s a pattern. Daniel Fontaine wants to do everything himself. From every election sign having his name on it to picking which groups get grants, it’s all about him having power. The entire NWP party was created to give him power.

Reminds me how Fontaine complained when Council increased funding for Community grants a year ago. Even though #NewWest city staff who vet the applications and disperse the funds. The #NWP proposal? Council will "approve all community grants". Just a little authoritarian, these moves seem.

Radar-based nowcasting methods have a long history, so are definitely ‘established’. But like NWP they continue to get better.

It's actually not based on an NWP model - it's a probabilistic nowcasting system driven by radar observations. I believe it is based on the pySTEPS framework - see pysteps.github.io.

Another season of tracking freezing degree days in the high Arctic has ended. This is a simple measure of relative cold integrated with time. This past year was quite anomalous again, consistent with a rapidly warming Arctic system.
