Ngāruahine chair Emma Gardiner presented to the Transport & Infrastructure committee today entirely in te reo. When the chair said halfway through that the committee didn't have an interpreter or anyone who spoke te reo, she replied, "Nē rā? Nā koutou te hē!" and forged on.
A south Taranaki iwi will use only te reo Māori when corresponding or speaking with central government officials from now on and hopes other iwi and kaupapa Māori organisations will follow suit.
