Deciding Namor was a mutant because of his ankle wings (in a story with Namorita in it), instantly raised the question of why Namorita and Namora did too, which resulted in an, "Uh, um, uh...they're clones of him!" convoluted explanation that didn't have any positive effect.
It was just dumb.
It was just dumb.
I think that one was awful -- and has since been justly ignored, like many of that creator's "explanations" that don't actually make things better or more satisfying as story elements.

Everett introduced Namorita, a fun character, knowing the brooding Namor can’t carry a book alone. And he cleverly circles back to FF #4 when an amnesiac Namor was an NYC bum.
