Feeling a definite kinship with the Egyptian potter who made this over 5500 years ago. I hope the whimsical addition of feet to this bowl gave them as silly a grin as it gives me.

A figurine of a hartebeest, made of flint, found in a cemetery at Hierakonpolis.
It dates to the Naqada II period, 3650–3450 BC.
The Naqada culture was a Chalcolithic Predynastic Egyptian culture. Hierakonpolis is a major site for studying this period.

On display at Neues Museum Berlin.

This is my attempt at writing a Setian Creation myth that someone living in the ancient city of Nubt (Ombos or Naqada) might have believed. However, this is not intended to be lauded as dogma or some "revealed scripture"; it is just a creative exercise and thought experiment.

Ooo I have a question @flintdibble.bsky.social!! 🙋

I recently went to the St. Louis Art Museum and saw these parades of birds on a Greek vase. Is there any relation to the Naqada? Or was bird really just the word back then?

Would love to know your thoughts!
