Blown away by the residents of Portobello! 200+ came out for pop-up astronomy last night & the heroic members of @astronomyedinburgh.bsky.social stayed out for hours to let them peer through their telescopes and celebrate #NationalAstronomyWeek. 🧪🔭

In an unexpected twist of fate, Edinburgh's rain clouds have miraculously cleared to show me this! And I've just realised that it's extra pleasing that tonight we have a half-moon halfway between Jupiter and Venus! 🤓

Just processed 4 90s videos of Jupiter from 05 February taken with C925. Each video was processed in AstroSurface, then derotated and combined in WinJupos, then colour balanced, sharpened using deconvolution and a bit of curves transformation for saturation. #astrophotography #nationalastronomyweek

What a great start to #NationalAstronomyWeek at the #DarkSkies event in Hertford. We had a screening of The City Dark film followed by a light switch-off and stargazing with astronomers from Bayfordbury Observatory in Hertford Castle grounds. Frosty and fantastic! #NAW

Last night we ran an #AstronomyOutreach session in our garden so people from our village could come along to look at the Moon and planets through 3 different telescopes + my 15x70 binoculars. A great way to celebrate #NationalAstronomyWeek & the sky stayed clear for us 😄

For the sake of my own mental health I’m going to be retreating to the planetarium this afternoon to get ready for #NationalAstronomyWeek. Putting this onto the 15m is unrelated to that, but feels somehow necessary.
