Tussen de lagen door spray ik soms een laagje Finalfix van Spectrafix. Een enkele laag zorgt ervoor dat de inkt bij de volgende verflaag niet oplost en weer opgenomen wordt. Zo kan ik kleur en diepte opbouwen in dunne lagen.

Wede fermenteren: spannend! Er blijft een blauw laagje achter in de maatbeker, maar het water is nog niet heel blauw.... wel belletjes, een glanzend laagje op het oppervlak en het ruikt gefermenteerd... stinkt niet heel erg. Nog even afwachten..

Today I’ve been making cochineal ink - two variants. With citric acid it turns towards orange, with soda ash, more towards deep purple.
Both are beautiful.

Discovery: the Red Cabbage & Alum Ink - which is very purple - turns blue on some papers but not on others.

2+ years ago, I gave a friend some of my handmade inks which, at that point, were a year old. Historically, inks were made just before they were needed, but while they had airtight containers, they didn’t have our modern refrigeration to expand lifespan. She just tested them yesterday…#naturalink
