It’s also because Cyberpunk is the only game where you CAN play a netrunner-type character. There are games with better gunplay, and there are games with better melee, but there aren’t other games where I can look at a guy hard enough and get him to blow his own brains out.

i mean true but you can just do this as a netrunner. like my current netrunner is a dual revolver wielding combat demon who just can also make your brain explode by looking at you

the netrunner stuff was so much better post PL but theres just something thats so viscerally satisfying about activating your kerenzikov, hammer fanning your revolver, and then mulching a bunch of [insert bad guy faction here] with your flaming mantis blades before anyone has even fired a bullet

I’m replaying cyberpunk 2077 as a Netrunner and there’s a level of power in logging into a club’s computers, turning on and controlling cams, finding the target, and pressing the unalive themselves quickhack, then just walk out with no one chasing me.
