#Neurodiveristy
Neoliberal neurodiveristy culture sells “unmasking” as a lifestyle brand.

Share your quirks online.

Perform your rawness.

But that’s just another mask - curated, marketed, consumed.

Real unmasking isn’t performance.

It's real connection.

It’s relief.

It’s dignity.

Editorial on neurodiveristy frameworks in East Asian cultures: identity vs person-first debates don't make (linguistic) sense in some languages. These cultures may value harmony/cultural tightness over individuality; important to learn from local autistic ppl. 1/

Grateful INSAR invited a panel I suggested (first in fall 2023) on the research intersection of the neurodiveristy movement and autistic people with high support needs, at a time when the divisive, unscientific term profound autism threatens to get more entrenched. Great work by our team - powerful.
Now: Neurodivergence-Affirming and Inclusive Research Practices for Autistic People with High Support Needs. Chaired by @drstevenkapp.bsky.social & @dianatan.bsky.social, featuring Drs. Teresa Girolamo, Aimee Grant, Jackie Ryan, Holly Sutherland. Discussants: Grant Blasko & Vikram Jaswal. #INSAR2025

I didn't realize the extent to which he's at the core of my understanding of neurodiveristy, including that of me and my family, until reading this right now. I've loved him on social media and just took his presence for granted. Thank you, Steve, for everything.

Reflecting on a busy day of admin, writing and training delivery 💫
Delivering training is definitely not something that comes naturally to me, but there is certain joy in being able to share content and rich conversations around neurodiveristy and neuroaffirming practice. 🌻

"During #Disability Pride Month, take the opportunity to educate your #workforce about the disabled experience, the #ADA, and disabled people who have carved a space for themselves in a world that has often tried to shut them out and act like they didn't exist."

Overall? Neurodiveristy.

On an individual level? Well that varies by person and ranges from being pure evil to "ADHD won't let me let somebody be wrong on the internet'

had a great time at the Divergent Minds in the Archive Workshop today at Liverpool Central Library. Some really productive conversations about barriers for neurodiversity in using or working with archives - and conversations with really lovely people as well!

An area is biodiverse if it has a wide variety of plants and animals.

It’s not biodiverse If it’s limited to very little variety of plants and animals.

Neurodiveristy is the same concept but It’s aboht s group of people with a variety of Neurotypes.

Good research is being published about the effects of trauma on the brain. I appreciate this science, but it can overshadow the wonderful people who have had trauma. Let's see the positives like inner growth too. Plasticity in the brain is real, and no one is without potential. #hope #neurodiveristy
