I don't know if virescent metallic counts as iridescence, but a virescent green metallic bee was fun to see this year.

For the suggested New Year's theme of iridescence, I went back to older photos for good examples. Common grackles can be so beautiful. First two photos 2023 and last two 2024.

Did I take over 300 pictures of this one little bird? Why, yes, I did. A male Anna's Hummingbird perched on a slender twig. Its body is sideways with its head turned to look towards the camera. Its body is gray on the breast, black on the wings, and light to dark green iridescent on its back and tail. Its head and gorget are bright iridescent magenta pink with subtle orange along the right side edge and slightly purple towards the top of the head.
