We had some synchronicities with Butterflies when my mother was ill and passed. Like myself she loved lepidoptera. So we got her (and my dad combined) a butterfly shaped tombstone.
I have some butterfly decor that some may consider at odds with my other curiosa but they're memento mori to me also.

There are so many examples of grishin scooping students, and I’ve been coauthors with many of them on papers that got scooped. It is now imperative that whenever anyone submits a Lepidoptera paper to a journal, that they specifically request it not be sent to grishin to review for these reasons.

Finnish divides them into "day butterflies" and "night butterflies" (or "diurnal/nocturnal lepidoptera") which aren't really based on actual taxonomic classifications and don't quite map onto the butterfly/moth classification in English.

I spotted this moth sitting on a leaf right at eye level, while hiking along a stream in the Colombian Andes. It looked like it had been dusted with frost. It hadn't.
