Upon closing, the combined company is expected to operate as Avere Therapeutics and trade on Nasdaq under ticker “AVRX”, with existing NextCure stockholders retaining an ownership interest and receiving CVRs tied to specified legacy assets. Concurrently, Avere entered a securities purchase agreement for a private financing expected to raise about $320 million in gross proceeds immediately before closing, subject to customary conditions.NextCure is restructuring to reduce expenses and preserve capital, including facility footprint reductions and asset sales, while seeking to preserve value in SIM0505 and other assets. Q2 2026 cash, cash equivalents and marketable securities were $20.1 million, down from $41.8 million at December 31, 2025. Q2 research and development expense fell to $7.4 million from $24.1 million, mainly due to prior‑year license fees, and general and administrative expense declined to $2.6 million from $3.2 million.
