NLRP3 is by far the most studied inflammasome — yet <30% of commercial antibodies were specific.

Only 4 of 14 tested antibodies detected NLRP3 specifically.

Antibodies must be validated before use.

A large dataset we hope is helpful for patients who may have CAPS, an #autoinflammatory condition associated with genetic variants in NLRP3. Lots of "variants of uncertain significance" now have a specific readout from our in vitro assay which can help with clinical diagnosis.

Researchers screening "nutrients & metabolites" found that l-Arginine inhibits NLRP3 inflammasome assembly in vitro. It binds to the Asp31 site of the NLRP3 protein, blocking its interaction with ASC. L-Arginine levels significantly⬇️in #Parkinsons serum

NLRP3 inflammasomes can assemble on most organelles. A beautiful study by Hafner et al demonstrate the flexibility of organelles that can support inflammasome activation. Kudos to the authors on an intriguing study.
