We took Hicks to meet both types of friends today.
There was fish’n’chips and we met some ravens, gulls, and saw a huge cormorant and an egret fly by.

Approximately 27 minutes ago, I was a blue haired punk thrashing around on stage, now for some bizarre reason, I’m a 56 year old guy, totally enthralled by a lightning storm over the mountains, marvelling at the colours of the swallows diving around us for cover.

Heavy rain, clouds and lightning fill the sky approaching our hotel. You can see rooftop swimming pools and some of the mountains have disappeared. The sea is a dark blue. Very heavy clouds and rain over the sea. Mountains are lit dramatically by the storm. Drama. Ooooh! ❤️

Took the road train into town today, and met this beautiful Swallowtail butterfly!

We’ve been getting a lot of Cabbage White butterflies in our garden this year.
Zoom in and look at the colours on the body!
They deserve a better, prettier name in my opinion.

A cabbage white butterfly on three bright green leaves in our garden. It’s shades of white, brown and greys. The body is almost iridescent with blues, yellow and green. It has four spots on the wings. You can see Hicks’s gravel bath below it. He loves wriggling on it.

We took Hicks up the pub, as it’s still too sticky to walk him properly.
He loves meeting people, and the pub didn’t disappoint.

There’s a new thing in our town.
They’re trying to help local businesses and general tourism, by installing wood carvings and a guide book to find them.
It’s all Tarka The Otter based stuff, as that was all set around here.
We’ve found two so far just walking with Hicks..

On my walk, I saw a beautiful blackbird singing its heart out on top of a fence.
Stood on the pavement directly below, was a big fat pigeon.
It was staring at the blackbird in awe, like it was jealous of the sounds it was making.
It’s probably a metaphor or something.

I always stop and check this wall by the road, as there’s always life springing from the bricks. I’ve posted it a few times. It’s an old stone wall that encases the graveyard in town. There are white, yellow and purple flowers growing on it. Beautiful foliage growing on one of the ancient battlement walls around town. There’s a large cross in the wall, and you can sit up there with a drink on a nice day. The view is excellent.

Walked through the churchyard with Mrs Gruffy and Hicks, listening to my beloved blackbirds, then followed a line of hearts chalked on the pavement, and checked out the new overlook bench..
