They don't really look like much, but it's difficult to describe the impact of these experiments. Many of our colleagues were quite surprised that this kind of thing could actually work. All that we'd done before—Mindgame, Animatrix, going back to Noiseman and Extra—was considerably less complex.

Koji Morimoto is the best: cofounded 4C, did the best animatrix short (Beyond), Noiseman Sound Insect is also also underrated. Had no idea he did this. bsky.app/profile/bunn...
One of my favorite things Koji Morimoto ever did. Still hits even 40 years later.
If you've never seen the intro to Dirty Pair: Project Eden, you may be surprised to discover that it's one of the most beautiful things ever animated.

Did you work on Noiseman as well ? I had the good fortune of working with a few of the artists on the film like Yamaura Akiyo when I was at Sunrise. Noiseman and Glay’s Survival were such big inspirations for me as a young animation student.
