Calling testing sites "empty" or "uninhabited" wasn't neutral language. It was a tool, one that erased people, justified displacement, and continues today in sealed archives and denied claims.

From 1945, testing took place across the Pacific, Central Asia, North Africa, Australia, the American Southwest. Many communities were treated as sacrifice zones. These places were not empty. They were home. 🧵
