I can see due to yellow markers on other forest tracks that they are looking to restore other old Polish roads

better make the most of them while I can!

A wrong turn rewarded!

Before I set off, I try to memorise my route; landmarks etc.

Can't use maps on my phone my speedo stops at 50!
[I would be really happy to trial a #BeelineMoto2 in Poland...]

anyway, got lost,
but 2 gorgeous unusual new-to-me shrines!

A little trip down to the airport

The old road has been marked as a cul-de-sac now, once a busy thoroughfare, now overgrown with many prickly things!

Looking at how close the road came to the runway you can see why they tried to close it

Yet another even more rickety bridge,
bits of wood at one side and new repairs on the other
& a nonchalant motocross rider

The bridge led to a track I have never been down that opened into fields, there were plenty of tyre tracks,
I hesitated but then followed them...

Welcome to Poland...

they either f*ck up forest roads or half finish them

because this forest road was supposed to be upgraded,
they didn't bother re-scraping half of it & it is full of pot-holes & puddles, my headlight bulb blew on the bumpy bit!

confused here... haven't been for a while
there used to be a legal forest track at this reservoir,
now there's a fence

seems the only route is to go onto bank of the reservoir where there are loads of people...

including a 'power ranger' putting a balaclava on in 26℃?

Headed over there today & they have scraped the top layer, widened it and placed markers along its route.

So now 'the man' has put traffic signs on this once forest track, that was once a main road, & is still classified as one, & looks like it will be again!

despite the high temp of 11℃ today
most of this track is in the shade & there were still patches of ice...

I entered the same forest road from the other side today

Odd how they have laid this tarmac, stopping about 50 yards in, either there is plans for housing or they'll do the whole lot

also, a St. James pilgrimage sign from another part of Poland nailed to a tree!

The shrine is a recent addition to the Kochbunker,
only appearing in 2024 according to Google maps,
these shrines seem to pop-up everywhere

The western route still features on some French tourist road maps,
Despite Piłsudski pulling funding from many roads,

he left the Kruszyna to Kaflarnia open for a long time,

as Kaflarinia & the lakes to the east were the summer residence of the Lubomirski family...

I have over 1.5 hrs of this trip but I'm not happy with the camera settings

I hesitate at some junctions because previously there were Red Circle / No Access signs, but they have gone.

this is my route from google earth.

the 2 roads are still classed as roads!

Many Jewish Polish people lived here, milling corn & flax, 2 mills in the area were owned by Jewish Polish people.

Non-Jewish Polish people massacred them in a pogrom pre-1900, pre-WW1, there's a monument somewhere near an old synagogue

There was no Catholic church in the area.

Part of my journey to the airport
once main road to Częstochowa,
the building of the airport was a reason this road was neglected & a new one built

[Vid has an ACR tune: Rub Down, the journey was disjointed, lots of sun flares, seemed apt.

I stopped at a very weird weir today

Complete with a wooden bridge & concrete steps leading into the river either side

No quite sure of its purpose,
...to deepen the river for swimming?

Plenty of little fish swimming upstream though...
