Turns out that Hungary’s new Health Minister who celebrated the election win dancing on the podium - Dr Hegedűs -worked in the NHS, serving as a clinical lead & head of orthopaedics at N Manchester General Hospital, then was the lead surgeon for day surgery at the Cirencester Treatment Centre.

I continue to marvel at developments in medicine. Having been in orthopaedics I try to keep up with its literature. What’s happening is amazing, both here and abroad. However, I worry that with people like Kennedy in charge, advances here will lag behind other nations and we’ll no longer lead.

..for the first Rheumatology, Neurology or Orthopaedics appointment they so desperately need are just, you know, malingering. (I recently spoke to a patient with a new diagnosis of multiple sclerosis who’d been waiting over six months to see a neurologist for the first time – simply scandalous.)..

Practiced orthopaedics for 50 years. My age is my business, but u can do the math. When a then older patient complained of pain and stiffness getting out of bed or out of a chair, I expressed concern, chin in hand, pretending I knew how they felt even though I had no idea. Now I know how they felt.

The girl in pink picked up a scalpel. She still uses it today.

Nephros = kidney, -ology = study of
Cardiology: kardia = heart
But then you come to obstetrics and orthopaedics
Obstetric = the one who stands opposite (to catch a projectile neonate)
Orthopaedic = straight child (eg fixing club feet/scoliosis etc)
