This got me curious as to whether one could, say, legally modify old (owned) games that no longer work on modern OSes to work on modern OSs. And the answer appears to be "Almost certainly in the EU, probably in the US."

That's actually interesting how the 2 OSes operate so differently. My phone stays on vibrate for any notifications, but I can still hear audio. I haven't really tried it fully on silent. I miss enough stuff with it on vibrate, but it's better than constant notifications.

My fear with the AI “breaking containment” stories is more that its posturing to ensure AI models will be forever “closed source”.
Imagine if Linux, android, and chromium were all closed source with no open source alternatives. Do you think Windows, mobile OSes, and Chrome would be better or worse?

Yep I tested it, but I also have a CI/CD pipeline that runs the unit tests on Windows PowerShell and then on Core on all 3 OSes

Mobile phone OSes are dishonest in the sense that "WiFi off" doesn't mean the interface is electrically off, that's a "feature" that I hate.
