#OceanAlkalinityEnhancement
Nice work! And if the boulders are made of soluble basic minerals, perhaps they'll qualify as #OceanAlkalinityEnhancement #mCDR for #CarbonCredits as well? 🌊 (Though, obviously, solubility isn't exactly ideal for a "boulder barrier")

Obviously a little gutted that #OceanAlkalinityEnhancement got missed (😉). Bar the (frankly outrageous) scale it needs doing at, it has the advantages of being relatively benign (except maybe the end of the pipe), and one can arguably be lazier about #MRV (added TA *eventually* stores DIC).

Very interesting developments on the regulations of 'marine geoengineering' in Australia. I read this as an opening up to those activities, including #OceanAlkalinityEnhancement.

What do experts think?

Ocean alkalinity enhancement (OAE) is a promising CO₂ removal (CDR) strategy, but monitoring, reporting, and verification (MRV) involves running computationally expensive climate models. In this new contribution, we propose a statistical technique to simplify the MRV problem. 🌊🧪
Impulse response functions as a framework for quantifying ocean-based carbon dioxide removal
Abstract. Limiting global warming to 2 °C by the end of the century requires dramatically reducing CO2 emissions, and also implementing carbon dioxide removal (CDR) technologies. A promising avenue is...

Copepods are a key species in the marine food web. If their populations change, the whole food web changes. For this reason, our experts are intensively studying the possible consequences of #OceanAlkalinityEnhancement on copepods and the algae they feed on. Here are some results lnkd.in/efPmnKWd
