I loved just absolutely DEMOLISHING that first area, the controls are great for that, but yeah it doesn't really come together until oddrock pops and you get your first bananza form.
A ton of the mechanics snap together as soon as that happens. Like getting the hat in Odessey.

I'd say this is borderline spoilers but as someone who avoided everything I could about the game the box art outright spoils the surprise anyway but Oddrock is just so so much more charming than Pauline imo and I have to wonder if Pauline was a late addition to the game

Take a closer look at her bracelet. It’s made of the same stuff as Oddrock. Either she’s inside Oddrock somehow, or she’s controlling it remotely.

The game has already had tons of acknowledgement towards the franchise (which gives me hope Krool will be in the game) so pauline being specifically chosen makes more sense than people think

In the trailer, when talking about VoidCo, specifically Void Kong. Void Kong talks about how Pauline ran away from them. And VoidCo branding is seen on Pauline when she was Oddrock. Clearly showing a connection between the two.

This game has no right to be as good or as fun as it is! I didn’t expect to enjoy it this much, but it’s essentially Super Mario Odyssey with a fully destructible environment.

Oddrock having the VoidCo seal is really interesting bc if this were any other Nintendo game, I'd think "oh Pauline's singing can break the seals so VoidCo seals her to tutorialize that mechanic"
But something about how the team's insights make me think that Oddrock's influence runs much deeper...
