they are cosmic, odinic gods who wander the cosmos getting squares laid, that's a throughline in all the videos
very funny to me that in the music video for "Sharp Dressed Man" by ZZ Top the titular Sharp Dressed Man is not any of the guys in ZZ Top. There is a completely different guy who is Sharp Dressed. The ZZ Top guys show up and they look like shit! they're wearing coats indoors.

Today at the Fenris Wolf site, I review Freya Aswynn’s autobiography:

I was also a member of the Oath Keepers, Asatru Folk Assembly & Odinic Rite (white supremacist groups that masquerade as heathen organizations), & the American Freedom Party aka American 3rd Position, and a few other groups.

Odinic gods who drive really nice cars

Almost identical to the ‘weapon dancer’ who features on the Torslunda die matrices!

This horned, spear-wielding, foot-stepping figure is ubiquitous across North Sea ‘warrior’ groups, and is possibly Odinic in nature
A die stamp, potentially for making foils akin to those on the Sutton Hoo helmet has been found in Kent.

Honestly, a Nerd Space Wolves successor who are hardcore Codex adherent spreadsheet wonks is a really cool idea and not just as a bit. Sort of an Odinic clever man spin on the Norse theme instead of the BEER, BOLTGUNS, AND BITCHES WOOOOOO!” thing their parent chapter has going on.
Would love to see a comedy where a chapter of clearly space wolf pre-primaris descent space marines keep coming up with rationalizations of why they're actually Ultramarines successors, despite increasingly absurd evidence to the contrary

I was a member of various white supremacist forums and groups like VNN, White Survival, the Oath Keepers, Odinic Rite, Asatru Folk Assembly, and the American Freedom Party/American 3rd Position, and a few other groups.

As a former member of Asatru Folk Assembly and Odinic Rite...

Hi Anna. Good on you! I am a heathen, and I was a white nationalist... I was in Asatru Folk Assembly and Odinic Rite.. two "folkish" groups. I can confirm everything you are saying.

of all the clearly evil marauder group narrative utilities, it tickles me most how ironmen worship Odinic Cthulhu to facilitate the absolute most viking

Thormundar - Sigrid, the Witch King

An old piece from the past of a minor Thormundari character. Still love her outfit design, along with the little Odinic nods sprinkled in.

(Could've sworn I posted it here before, but I can't find it in my art tag)

anyway I was reminded of this by the post that's like "how did gandalf stay celibate? did he not fancy a bit of elf?" because I think the honest to god answer is that the odinic wanderer gandalf from pre lotr hobbit might have, but lotr gandalf absolutely would not because he's saintly now

100% bet you’re correct about him being a Nordic Pagan. My guess is specifically Odinic Rite, judging from the dogwhistles and the “closed community” descriptor
Why can't you commit to the bit and be either an atheist, an anti-theist, or both? Seems... centrist of you to just think some religions bad, but the rest are fine.

But also, your religion which you certainly will not divulge here is exempt from criticism. Again, very double standard.

In ch. 7 of #Orkneyingasaga #SagaoftheEarlsofOrkney Torf-Einarr is 'einsýnn ok þó manna skyggnstr' 'one-eyed and yet very keen-sighted', giving him a slightly #Odinic touch.

When I was a white nationalist, I was a folkish heathen... a member of both the Odinic Rite and Asatru Folk Assembly.

I came out as queer 10 years ago when i left the movement, specifically to piss off my former associates. The worst that happened was Andrew Anglin crying on my phone.

A fascinating find, but I share @jmharland.bsky.social's (& Matthias Friedrich's) skepticism re a possible 'Odinic' interpretation. A few years ago, I tried to summarise the historiographical pitfalls of such an approach in this chapter: www.manchesterhive.com/display/9781....

There’s a few 8/9th c. Frisian pendants that also have eyes blotted out, which I find convincingly ‘Odinic’

In the case of Heathenry, the culprits were the American Asatru Folk Assembly which succeeded the Asatru Free Assembly of the 1970s and the British Odinic Rite.

These groups used claims of reviving ancestral spirituality to cover their white nationalist politics.

The Odinism issue is Judge thinks it’s a legit religion instead of a white supremacist hate group. (Odinic Rite is not Old Norse heathenry) So is calling anyone testifying about it hearsay.
She would not say this if it was a scholar of Catholicism commenting on the Charismatic movement.

It's pretty interesting seeing Arith Harger discuss identification with deity in the context of "shamanism" because of the stuff I've been reading about the Thracian mysteries from Jake Stratton Kent this week.
