Is it even Halloween if I don't post the creepiest photograph I have? It's just as terrifying in real life, even during the day. There was a small field of them and this was the biggest. Photograph taken looking up at a tall scarecrow at the Ulster American Folk Park in Omagh, Northern Ireland. Used monochrome and warm filters. The park was decorated for the season with all manner of spooky things and apparently they open in the evening that night, which quite frankly, you would need to love being frightened out of your wits to attend. Many do apparently! A scarecrow with a roughly stitched hessian head wears a ragged smock. Tree behind without leaves adding to the creepiness. Sky overhead is a very pale grey.

Photograph not long before dusk in the drizzle walking to the visitor centre at OM Dark Sky Park, Davagh Forest. Had time for a soggy wander before attending a brilliant astronomy talk. The atmosphere was heavy and grounding, unlike anything I've experienced before. Would absolutely love to go back. Image shows a scene looking towards a dense area of dark green fir trees, that cross the frame two-thirds up, and rise towards the right hand edge. In front of those are a variety of smaller trees and large bushes starting to show autumnal colours. The bottom two thirds show a vibrant olive green grass with darker patches of bushes and taller coarse grass. This is dissected by a dark stream which curves from left hand side down to the bottom right corner. The stream has some obvious rocks around which the water flow bubbles. The bottom edge are large grey stones of a small bridge over the stream. Sky is a pale blue-grey from the mist and drizzle. Amazing place to visit if you're in Northern Ireland. Can't speak for Mid Ulster, but I don't think the DEA boundaries in West Tyrone are great for Aontu either - they didn't run anybody in the Omagh part in 2023, Derg DEA is too small to be a viable target and they don't do well enough in Strabane to sneak a seat in Sperrin.
