Photograph not long before dusk in the drizzle walking to the visitor centre at OM Dark Sky Park, Davagh Forest. Had time for a soggy wander before attending a brilliant astronomy talk. The atmosphere was heavy and grounding, unlike anything I've experienced before. Would absolutely love to go back. Image shows a scene looking towards a dense area of dark green fir trees, that cross the frame two-thirds up, and rise towards the right hand edge. In front of those are a variety of smaller trees and large bushes starting to show autumnal colours. The bottom two thirds show a vibrant olive green grass with darker patches of bushes and taller coarse grass. This is dissected by a dark stream which curves from left hand side down to the bottom right corner. The stream has some obvious rocks around which the water flow bubbles. The bottom edge are large grey stones of a small bridge over the stream. Sky is a pale blue-grey from the mist and drizzle. Amazing place to visit if you're in Northern Ireland. Photograph taken not long before dusk in the drizzle outside the visitor centre at OM Dark Sky Park, Davagh Forest. Had time for a soggy wander before attending a brilliant astronomy talk. Image shows a silver birch tree leaning slightly with an unruly mass of twisted leaf-free branches reaching upwards. The tree contrasts with the surrounding forest of evergreens. Sky is a pale blue-grey from the mist and drizzle. Amazing place to visit if you're in Northern Ireland. Further details at www.omdarksky.com

Amazing place to visit if you're in Northern Ireland. You'll need some guts to drive home afterwards if it's pitch black and pouring with rain...my navigators were crap! Gained some wrinkles that journey. Further details at www.omdarksky.com

Photograph taken inside the OM Dark Sky observatory of a cluster of 'smaller' telescopes in a corner, awaiting use. The observatory site used gentle red light to help eyes adjust to the night sky. Further details at www.omdarksky.com
