I climbed on the wagon:
it has carried me since
though it can’t avoid
Life’s troughs, deep ruts of pain
to fall off would be worse
some roads are rough but
I don’t regret the steps I took
to board…and journey on

Once I relapsed, I stayed off the wagon & in my cups until February. The cold wasn’t gonna change, the dark wasn’t gonna change, I sure as hell wasn’t gonna change.
In March, Spring came on & I climbed out of my cups. But I wasn’t going back to any Test of Forty, nosir.
