A memorial ceremony was held Sunday in the village of Otaki, Nagano Prefecture, for the victims of the eruption of Mount Ontake that occurred 12 years ago, leaving 58 people dead and five missing.
Japan marks 12th anniversary of Mount Ontake eruption
Participants offered silent prayers at 11:52 a.m., the time of the eruption, and placed white chrysanthemums on the flower offering table.

Fallout shelter placed along the path of Asama-en. Most of the 57 people who perished in the eruption of Mt Ontake in 2014 were directly hit by falling volcanic rocks, so it makes sense to jump into these shelters. If the pyroclastic flow comes you won’t live no matter what.
