‘Epistemic’ means relating to knowledge (the thing), whereas ‘epistemological’ means relating to the study of knowledge (the theory). Similarly for ‘ontic’ versus ‘ontological’.

Most uses of "ontological" in internet discourse are actually "ontic" in the Heideggerian sense, pertaining as they are to the the nature of the existent and not how come that existent appears.

Epistemic exploitation. They demand education or "proof" just so they can ignore what they've been told. It reinforces ontic burnout, which is just racist at its core imo. They need to just leave us alone.
There is a group online that does that "disrespect then ask for labor" all the time. Reply condescendingly then act aggrieved when they realize they were wrong. That's why i block. I am not participating in your reindeer games under the guise of "educating." I am not an educator, im a puncher.

By focusing on the "what" of violence, and defining the ontic structure of violence extremely narrowly, mainstream approaches to the question actually enable the perpetuation of violence against marginalized groups in specific, by allowing deliberate acts of harm to escape definition as violent.

I don't really fuck with heidegger but I woke up thinking about how if human beings are "ontological" (IE, conscious of their own existence as a problem), animals are "ontic" (IE, they exist, but in an immanent state of minimal sustained self-reflection), AI is neither and can't even suffer to boot

So many people missed out on the ontic shift from the qualitative to the quantitative—‘being’ a planet or a planetoid or quasi-planet or a moon isn’t good or bad, an honorific or a disparaging label, there is no ‘downgrade’ from one to the other. There is no moral judgment—it’s just a category

As someone who is sympathetic mainly to ontic structural realism (to the extent I’m sympathetic to realism at all), this + Hempel’s dilemma-type considerations are what make me think physicalism is most plausible as
1. A stance à la van Fraassen
2. Some sort of minimal asymmetric constraint

Also, it gets worse: it's entirely plausible to posit, based on modern physics, that there are no substances, just relations. Various structural realisms do this; AN Whitehead anticipates this from a more speculative angle.
