Heard one could download from Traficom the raw data and then somehow convert it to OpenCPN format? Anyone here with experience? Or even ready-made stuff?

Maybe just encourage open source tech? Open Office, FreeCad, Gimp, OpenCpn, Linux, there is a massive list of user created software and tech out there. When you switch, give them a donation. They can use it.

After some messing with this, I can use opencpn.org to create routes, export to GPX and drop it into a mounted 276CX. Only bummer is I have to buy charts twice. But I’ve already got a 2024 set for OpenCPN.
Got my first pi. My partner is really into naval industry so wanted to make this into a mobile vessel tracker with a touchscreen that runs opencpn (visual vessel tracker) so she can look at ships in the port. No idk how it would be different than just using a phone app but seemed like a fun project.

Hey thanks man, this is very helpful. I have a vhf antenna, and an rtlsdr blog I had planned to use. Im not going to be in a boat so just need to receive data rather than transmit. Just wanted my partner to be able to look at ship data on opencpn really.

By the way, if you use OpenCPN on a PC at the chart table, we also have a 10-inch waterproof and sunlight-readable screen to install as a second screen in the cockpit

Any #opencpn users out there that could explain to me why I can't use 4 shades of depths and I'm unable to have depth areas deeper than 5 m shaded white? Finnish oeSENC charts.

I haven't in detail, but it's not the generic things that are the problem. It's specific apps that are needed in daily life: MyChart, two different parking apps, Amtrak, Windy, OpenCPN, Aqua Map, banks, Visible, etc. Plus Google Maps is still by far the best for traffic conditions and road hazards.
