i guess the big barrier for using whim (my preference) is the cost... but even if something like marine's tack/gear got a new mesh update or an opencollar alternative would help immensely, those are the old school laggy sets i never see updated

Why do this when OpenCollar exists, you might ask? OpenCollar was made for collars, and as such, is specialized for collars. It's not always used that way though. If you've ever bought RLV gear, you may know the frustration of wearing a gag or an armbinder that behaves like an OpenCollar.
