#OpenFPGA
If you saw my GameBoy Camera talk at #VCFMW I very briefly mentioned printer emulators.

Well you Analogue Pocket owners are in luck because this core takes a novel approach.

the pocket is cheaper!!! and it runs all kinds of other consoles via OpenFPGA!

The Analogue Pocket can now dump Game Boy cartridges

Developer kroy-the-rabbit released an openFPGA utility core that turns the handheld into a standalone ROM and save dumper.

One of the coolest inventions, openFPGA! 😍

The Analogue 3D is a beautiful piece of hardware and I'd love to test it out, but it doesn't appear to support OpenFPGA and I don't know if I care that much about just playing N64 games. Like the hardware can clearly handle PS1, I'm not buying another console for that.

I hate that this is such a big deal. Save states are like *the* defining new feature of emulation going back decades, but OpenFPGA implementation is very hit or miss...
Save States are coming to the Analogue Pocket's SNES core!

they made a Gameboy Printer core for the Analogue Pocket that can be linked to a real gameboy and then have exportable results to actually print
this is so awesome

Analogue's Pocket just got its 2.6.0 update with new power options

The latest PocketOS firmware adds auto-dimming, faster openFPGA menus, and support for 8BitDo's newest controllers.

Tried to celebrate Out Run’s 40th by playing the PC Engine version on Analogue Pocket, but sadly the OpenFPGA core is causing this horrible glitch - both with the HuCard/adapter and with a ROM.

I’ve emailed @analogue.bsky.social and hoping for a fix. It’s not exactly an obscure game!

Yep, using Verilog. Started with this really sweet boilerplate I found:

Just wanted to share this cool little technical showpiece from "Thinkelastic" over on Twitter, demonstrating the Original "Quake" running via the Analogue Pocket

Mind you, this is NOT a #Gameboy ROM.
This demo is actually running directly through the system's OpenFPGA

I know people like the authenticity of FPGA emulation and everything, but most of the OpenFPGA cores on my Analogue Pocket don't even allow for extremely basic stuff like pausing and save states. These don't seem like big asks for emulation in 2026!

Jotego is officially building a CPS3 core for FPGA

The developer behind hundreds of arcade cores has finally started work on Capcom's final 2D arcade board.

ME, BEFORE STREAM: The fact I am in incredible pain means I will be tired and want to end the stream early.

ME: AT END OF STREAM: [Because I am incredible pain, I get incredibly flushed with adrenaline and burst out into a vituperative rant about how Analogue "OpenFPGA" is remotely "Open"]

Alternative ways of playing the N64 without needing a ModRetro:
a) an actual N64
b) emulation on PC or PC-like device
c) The Analogue3D
d) Any OpenFPGA machine

If you’re looking for a simple, plug-and-play way to use your original N64 cartridges and accessories on a modern display, the Analogue 3D offers pretty much everything you could hope for.

Anyone have a Glow in the Dark Analogue Pocket? Anyone want one?
I love mine, it’s very awesome in so many ways. Super bright high resolution 1600x1440 screen, OpenFPGA hardware replication of many arcades games and various consoles. The ability to play actual GameBoy, GBC, and GBA cartridges.

I think is cool to see a custom firmware for the console, bc for all I watched the modretro firmware is not perfect.

And having access to others cores is cool (is sad that A3D doesn't support OpenFPGA).

I hope this project turns out great.

Yeah, openFPGA on my Analogue Pocket goes hard.
