My first thought was idiot reporter or source. But thinking more, it's possible that reporter/source is merely mildly ignorant and what he's attempting to convey is that it will be performed in Shakespeare's original *pronunciation* (which is not Old English but does sound quite different)

I suspect they don't really mean old English, as in Anglo-Saxon, or even middle English (like Chaucer used) but early modern English such as Shakespeare used. Would be fun if they used original pronunciation.
