Proton AI Coding Mandate: Is Zero-Access Encryption at Risk?

Leaked Slack chats show Proton pushing AI-written code and questioning pentests. Here is what that means for SRP-6a, OpenPGP and post-quantum keys...

Will give them credit where it's due, and that despite how much PGP sucks, Proton is the leading developer and quasi-steward for the OpenPGP ecosystem after Koch's breakdown.

And yeah their E2EE access stuff, but still not as good as it could be imo.

So yeah, Proton's R&D is cool, corporate isn't.

*I* don't mind going back to half-baked implementations of openPGP, but I'm in the process of moving my workplace from Google to Proton. What now? Even more infuriating than the AI talk is the idea that a security-oriented email company would push out code without adequate QA. Are you KIDDING me

I’ve been tinkering with something new: Brieflox! 📬
A proper iPhone email client with multiple mailboxes, optional OpenPGP encryption and privacy at its heart.

Fancy giving the beta a spin?

Happy with the Token2 smart card (+ it's OpenPGP applet & FIDO2 features) so far, less happy with the Linux USB stack seemingly not liking the reader I picked
