oof. yeah there are ways you could look up what support is gonna be like, but the easiest way to find out is honestly to just try booting into the live environment and see if you can access the printer through CUPS

After the CUPS lead developer left Apple and OpenPrinting taking up CUPS developer after Apple ceased development, CUPS 2.4 eventually materialized. CUPS 2.4 released in 2021 as the culmination of that work to restore the open-source development around this print server while today brings CUPS 2.4.12 for ending out the series and looking toward a future with CUPS 2.5...

Med OpenPrinting/CUPS som man kan legge driver direkte der og fungerer over på nettverk.
Gjort det selv med «liten» laserskriver hjemme.

Sovereign Tech Agency v roce 2026 přispěje na vývoj PHP, Servo, systemd a dalších
Německá agentura Sovereign Tech Agency (dříve Sovereign Tech Fund) vydala svůj nejnovější zpravodaj, ve kterém představila některé nové investice do různých klíčových open-source projektů. Zdůrazněny jsou projekty jako Scala, SDCC, Let's Encrypt, Servo, chatmail, Drupal, Fedify, OpenPrinting, PHP, Apache Arrow, Open SSL, R Project, Open Web Docs, conda, systemd a phpseclib.
Plánované investice do PHP pro roky 2025–2026 činí celkem 223 000 eur a jsou určeny ke zlepšení bezpečnosti, spolehlivosti a spolupráce. Pro systemd je vyhrazeno to 399 000 eur určených na jeho rozšíření za účelem zlepšení bezpečnosti, integrity a robustnosti pro systémy s více uživateli.
Servo má získat 545 000 eur na zlepšení přístupnosti, podpory embeddingu a udržovatelnosti. OpenPrinting dostane 190 000 eur na pomoc s údržbou a vylepšeními. Certifikační autorita Let's Encrypt bude podpořena částkou 402 800 eur.
Sovereign Tech Agency (STA) je dceřinou společností německé Spolkové agentury pro převratné inovace (SPRIND), jejímž cílem je posílit otevřenou a svobodnou digitální infrastrukturu. Zaměřuje se na bezpečnost, odolnost a technologickou diverzitu kritického open-source softwaru, který je základem moderní digitální ekonomiky a veřejných služeb. Roční rozpočet agentury se pohybuje okolo 17 milionů eur.
