I also don't actively use the YAML part (I used OpenTofu), but I don't wanna rewrite my entire existing setup, hence the temptation to develop something compatible
however, I currently have enough RAM, so that temptation is not as strong anymore

Terrakube might be close to what you want: an open-source Terraform/OpenTofu platform with a web UI, so one workspace per VPS and plan, apply and destroy from the browser. For a few weeks a year it's a lot of stack though; tofu apply before you leave and tofu destroy after is two commands.
