#Opthalmology
This morning's Portuguese headline: medical students are choosing dermatology, plastic surgery and opthalmology over internal medicine and intensive care because of bureaucracy and political choices.

(Wondering if that's the case here, too?)

But not whole unaccredited institutions, which is what I thought you meant? I remember UWE struggled to keep their opthalmology accreditation a few years ago... Maybe a good few now.

Islamic Civilization only gave Europe paper, algebra, printing, coffee, optics, banking, and opthalmology and we hardly use any of those now.
October 27, 2026 at 3:34 AM
Yeah, they never did anything for anybody.
Except for:

Algebra
Trigonometry
The number zero
The decimal system
Pharmacology
Camera obscura
Modern optics
Alchemy
Algorithmics
Systematic surgery
Opthalmology
Observational astronomy
Cartography
Botany

You know, jack shit, right?

Much of our foundational roots in science, astronomy, mathematics, medicine, pharmacology, opthalmology, physics, chemistry, etc come the Islamic Golden Age. Algebra comes from them. They also developed early algorithms we use in computer science today.

This guy is a moron.

🧵: I have a fellow #spoonie friend who has End-Stage Renal Disease and has to get injections in her eyes for her type 2 diabetes. She's on disability and has been since May. She's been going to the same opthalmology place for years.

Today, they told her she needs to apply for Care Credit or Cherry

my eyes im at opthalmology😱😱😱

It was comical.
The consultant who saw me looked a little sad (Opthalmology Doctors tend to unless they work at Moorfields or Liverpool).

“Any new symptoms?”

“I seem to be getting a lot of eye infections, styes, both eyes.”

“I’ve got some antibiotics here and some ointment.”

Lot of money in opthalmology right now. They're the new dentists.

Eye exam by opthalmology went well today. I've got slight cataracts but nothing major. The worst of it is I need glasses.
October 12, 2026 at 7:27 PM
I think that we need to fix the outsourced NHS ; not only are services like opthalmology expensive, thus excluding the poor, they are often inadequate ( my last expensive glasses were very sub standard) diagnosis and information is inadequate and patients still need to go to the NHS for real care!

Weird fuzzy line in my vision. GP sent me to A&E. A&E sent me to opthalmology. They said not a problem but we’ve noticed a small tear in your other retina. Laser fix 30 minutes later. All done within 5 hours. The longest delay was waiting for the drugs to wear off before I drove home.

my loyal newsletter subscribers have had to put up with a lot of gloom this month so it's time to hit premium subscribers with lighter fare: jean-paul marat's metaphysical opthalmology and also gonorrhea treatment

I have to see opthalmology they say. My left eye is 20/20 and my right is 25/25 and they didn't have the ability to see why as the CT scan came back fine.

Hopefully the antibiotics help and may fix it, but I'm not sure.

I went through about 12+ months of opthalmology treatment for suspected ocular melanoma. I remember hearing the docs whispering about not giving me steroids because if it was melanoma they'd make it worse. It was terrifying! Nobody was telling me anything. I wish I'd had the strength to question.

Screaming in frustration today. I had to convert an in person appointment to telehealth yesterday due to transportation not doing their literal job, and am facing the probability of a SECOND short notice cancellation tomorrow for the same reason. Tomorrow is an opthalmology appointment that HAS to

My younger brother got Orthokeratology lenses to correct his astigmatism, they were £200 (monthly) not covered by the NHS but were life-changing. The fact that kids opthalmology is an extra expense is so cruel

Roo imagery is in the pilot, she’s in the opening, she’s mentioned in helluva ep 1, she’s the eyes in both shows. I’ve talked about her for years. Idk man -she ain’t breaking news lol 😂
Years hence, when the Roo reveal comes, fans who haven't watched HB/Q&As/Patreon are going to be insufferable. "Boooo! A new villain this late in the show? Lame! V1vZeEp00P didn't have the balls to make her precious cash cow a villain!"

She was here the whole time.
ROO WAS HERE THE WHOLE TIME!!!

Opthalmology is one of those fields of medicine you have to be seriously passionate about to work in it. It's not like optometry where you can kinda free ball it and work in a mall booth-esque store
