I am trying a possible aid to make this fluid restriction less unpleasant: artifical saliva (I did not know this existed).

It makes you feel as though your mouth is hydrated and seems, therefore, to reduce thirst. It tastes sweet, but is xylitol, not sugar.

I was really struggling after I got really unwell with this. I never loved it but it’s became unpleasant. For me another aspect that madd it harder was that the SLS in the toothpaste made my mouth so uncomfortably dry after. I use a specialist toothpaste now called oralieve.

Oh no. That sounds bad. How about oralieve products.I use their toothpaste.

I have really bad problems with dry mouth. One reason I’m good at hydrating. I also started using oralieve toothpaste.

Unsure if it would suit you, but mum depends on this:

Also found soups are good!

The specialist toothpaste and mouthwash I have to use are called oralieve which I always think sounds needlessly fanfic

How would life be if you couldn’t swallow? A great #swallowaware2025 @sheffieldhosp-nhs.bsky.social many thanks to #StrykerEndo #Nutricia #Oralieve for your support and to the fabulous SLT team, students and wonderful colleagues for embracing a day all about eating, drinking and swallowing #RCSLT

Thanks Lou! They gave me some of that in hospital. Run out now, so I'm trying the lozenges for a bit.

Oralieve is incredible stuff (have a few of their things). Plus my 35+ year mainstay for medicated lip balm: Carmex. Sometimes the stuff our grandparents used is still the best 😂
